Netflix is said to have canceled Resident Evil series after only one season.

This news comes from a report from Limit line, reports that Netflix has decided not to continue with the show’s second season following the release of Season 1 last month. As for why, there’s no official reason yet but considering Netflix’s past, it’s likely Resident Evil did not meet expectations both in terms of critics’ and audience’s reaction. The show will now combine with many other shows canceled after just one season at the streamer including Cowboy Bebop, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistanceand more.

Limit line Note that Resident Evil’s released shortly after Stranger’s highly anticipated Season 4 Things, which may have resulted in a less than stellar first weekend on service. However, the series still debuted at number two, behind Strange thingsearned 72.7 million watch hours. Limit line reports that viewers have viewed Resident Evil with 73.3 million hours in its second week, taking third place on Netflix, before falling out of the Netflix Top 10 in its third week.

However, this isn’t Netflix’s first foray into the world of Resident Evil. Its 2021 movies, Resident Evil Infinite Darkness, holds that title, but that anime was also not well received. For more on the series, check out this section Resident Evil’s 25 years look back flashback video.
