New Overwatch 2 heroes will need to be unlocked along the Battle Pass free pass

All of the heroes new to Overwatch 2 won’t be immediately playable at launch, and that’s because you’ll need to unlock them on the game’s free in-battle track.

Overwatch commercial leader and VP of Blizzard Jon Spector revealed this on Twitter last night following leaks and rumors saying that new heroes will need to be unlocked during the match, which is a sort of card. Paid premium rewards players for leveling up through it much like passing is seen in Fortnite and other games. That’s partly true in that, new heroes will need to be unlocked through the match, but Spector made it clear on Twitter that those heroes will be on the free lane of battle.

“Resolving some incomplete information posted early about our Overwatch 2 Battle Pass – we will share all the details before launch, but wanted to confirm that the new Overwatch 2 heroes will available on the free version of the Battle Pass.”

As you can see, you won’t need to pay any money to unlock new heroes in Overwatch 2. However, it can still take some time to unlock these heroes depending on the location. their position on the free track. Only time will tell but luckily we don’t have to wait too long to find out as Overwatch 2 is out on October 4th.
