Nicki Minaj’s husband sentenced to house arrest after failing to register as a sex offender – National
Kenneth Petty, husband of rap superstar Nicki Minaj, was sentenced Wednesday to a year in solitary confinement and three years of probation for failing to register as a sex offender in California.
A representative for the federal prosecutor’s office told NBC that Petty, 44, was also ordered to pay a $55,000 fine.
According to court documents, Petty was convicted of attempted rape in New York in 1995 at the age of 16. He served four years in prison. The verdict forces Petty to register as a sex offender wherever he chooses to live in the US

In September, Petty pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender in California. He moved to the state in 2019 but was stopped at a traffic stop where authorities learned he was unregistered. Petty was indicted in March 2020.
Prosecutors in the case argued against home detention, writing that they recommended Petty receive a 15-month prison sentence.
In paperwork filed during the sentencing hearing in June, prosecutors claimed Petty intentionally failed to register as a sex offender. They also stated home confinement would not be an acceptable punishment, citing the six-bedroom, seven-bathroom Calabasas home shared with Minaj as the reason.
Amid home confinement, Minaj shared a photo of Petty and their son, nicknamed Papa Bear, to Instagram.
Petty and Minaj, 39, married in 2019. The Super bass The rapper revealed the news in a post on her Instagram account.

In 2019, the victim of Petty’s 1990s rape filed a libel and witness intimidation lawsuit against Petty and Minaj. According to the Los Angeles Times, Jennifer Hough said she has lived in “fear for the past year” after being threatened by celebrity associates.
The suit, filed in the Eastern District Court of New York, USA, seeks damages of US$15 million. It’s unclear if the lawsuit has been settled, though Hough said Truth in 2021, she was offered $20,000 to drop the charges.
