Nintendo Switch Sports version 1.2.0 is out now, here are the full patch notes
Nintendo Switch Sports released its second free update today. Some of the highlights include functionality for the Foot Strap accessory in football, new moves in volleyball, and some minor tweaks to bowling. ‘S Rating’ and ‘Infinity Rating’ have also been added in this update.

Version 1.2.0 (Release July 26, 2022)
Football
- One-on-One and Four-on-Four Soccer can now be played with the foot strap.

- A new camera mode has been added. To use it, go to the sport selection screen, then Option → User settings → Other (Two Hand Mode only).
- The camera can now be reset during playback by pressing the X Button.
- Players will no longer jump too high when kicking continuously, and it will also be easier to jump to the maximum height (Two Hand Mode only).
Volleyball
- You can now perform Slip Offensive, a coordinated move in which a player crosses the field before jumping up to hit the ball.
- To perform a Slide Attack, move the Stick left and right after hitting the ball. This move is great for catching the opponent off guard.
- To block an Offensive Slip, quickly start moving towards your opponent getting ready to hit the ball using the Stick to get into position.
- You can now perform Rocket Serves.
- When serving, toss the ball high and hit it at the top to perform a Rocket Serve.
Bowling
- Adjusted the way the pins fall.
- Now, it’s a bit more difficult to get the pegs to fall when playing straight bowling.
- It’s a little easier now for pegs to drop when bowling with curves.
Play globally
- S Rated and ∞ Rated (Infinity Rated) have been added to the Pro League.
- Those in the A30 to A39 level before the software update will be moved to the S0 to S9 rating.
- Added a setting to disable the display of your opponent’s nickname and title.
- This setting can be found on the sport selection screen. Go to Preferences → User Settings → More.
- Strengthen measures against disruptive behavior.
Play with friends
- When you create a room, you can now choose to give it a room ID. This will allow you to play online matches even if your opponent is not a Friend.

Under Create a new room, select the Room ID option (Invite people via ID). Record the room ID you see, then select OK.
Note: Your Room ID will also be displayed on the Member Reception screen.

- A new difficulty option called Auto Select is available for Bowling when playing with friends. This option measures the average skill of the participating players to establish the overall difficulty.

- An icon will now appear if the connection to the player is unstable while playing online.
Featured icon indicates poor connection quality when playing Tennis in Nintendo Switch Sports.
- A message will now appear when the Joy-Con controller connection is unstable during play.
- Several issues have been fixed to improve the gameplay experience.
