Kratos frees Tyr from his bonds.

The Norse god of war, law and honor was imprisoned by Odin for suggesting he not attack the giants of Jötunheim. Kratos is seen in the trailer breaking Tyr from what could be Gleipnir, the unbreakable rope that binds the great wolf Fenrir.

Odin (???)

Odin arrives at the house of Kratos and Atreus.

Is that the Father himself? Known for taking the form of a wanderer and walking among the people of Midgard, Odin was one of many Aesir gods believed to die during the events of Ragnarök.

Freya and the mistletoe

Baldur was the favorite of the Aesir gods, so when his mother asked everything in creation not to harm her son, they accepted. She just forgot to ask Mistletoe, which is what Loki ended up killing him (in both Norse Mythology and God of War). Now she’s a mother who lost her son – and seeks revenge.

Loki has always been known to have a good relationship with animals, this is seen in God of War. Angrboða, the “mother of monsters” who will appear in God of War: Ragnarök, is Loki’s romantic interest in Norse Mythology. In Northern Mythology at least, she and Loki are the parents of Fenrir, Jörmungandr, and Hel, all of whom play roles in Twilight of the Gods.

Mermaid

Fried is the goddess of the sea. She and her husband, Giant Aegir, have nine daughters who embody the waves. Both Ran and her daughter are known to have drowned at sea. While not depicted as mermaids in Norse Mythology, Sony Santa Monica will likely turn the two stories into one.

Thor’s red hair

The Norse God of Thunder is described as having red hair and a full braided beard, unlike the MCU’s blonde dreamboat. He’s more like the man we see here, wielding an Mjölnir whose grip is even shorter than we’re used to seeing.
