Alice Diop, Kelly Reichardt, Paul Schrader, Park Chan-wook and Ruben Östlund are among the famous directors whose films are slated to screen in the main framework of the 2022 New York Film Festival.
Park Decided to leave and stlund’s Triangle of sadness was one of the Cannes winners arriving at the annual fall event in Manhattan with Claire Denis’ The stars at noon and Charlotte Wells’ debut feature Aftersun.
Filmmakers appearing on the festival’s main roster for the first time include Margaret Brown, Davy Chou, Laura Citarella, Alice Diop, Mark Jenkin, Marie Kreutzer, Cyril Schäublin, Ryuji Otsuka and Huang Ji.
Back to the festival helpers include Todd Field, Mia Hansen-Løve, Hong Sangsoo, Joanna Hogg, Pietro Marcello, Cristian Mungiu, Jafar Panahi, Véréna Paravel and Lucien Castaing-Taylor, Kelly Reichardt, Paul Schrader, Albert Serra, Jerzy Skolimowski and Frederick The Smart Man.
The NYFF’s artistic director, Dennis Lim, said in a statement, “If there’s one takeaway from this year’s main takeaway, it’s cinema’s infinite possibilities for innovation. Collectively, the films on the show suggest that this innovation takes many forms: spectacular debuts, veterans performing new tricks, filmmakers seeking new forms of expression and modernity. new and surprising look. We love the scope and eclecticism of this group of films and are excited to share it with audiences.”
The festival will open with the event of Noah Baumbach White noisestarring with Elegance Bratton’s Inspection and watch Laura Poitras’ drug documentary at the center All beauty and bloodshed. By James Gray Armageddon time will also screen as a special event celebrating the festival’s 60th anniversary.

Presented by Films at Lincoln Center, the 60th New York Film Festival will run from September 30 to October 16.
