Olivia Newton-John dies: ‘Grease’ star dies aged 73 – National

Grease Actress Olivia Newton-John passed away Monday morning, according to a statement posted on her official Facebook account. She was 73 years old.

“Olivia Newton-John (73 years old) passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends. We ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time,” the statement read.

“Olivia has been a symbol of victory and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer. Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with botanical medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation, which specializes in research in botanical medicine and cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting any donations in her memory to the Olivia Newton-John Foundation (ONJFoundationFund.org),” it continued.

In September 2018, Newton-John revealed that her cancer had returned.

The singer-actress was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992 and had to undergo chemotherapy and a partial mastectomy. In 2013, she was diagnosed with cancer in her shoulder.

In May 2017, Newton-John canceled tours after her breast cancer returned and metastasized to her sacrum. In a Facebook post, her team said she was undergoing “nature wellness therapy” and “a short course of radiation therapy.”
