ONE: Joshua Pacio loses to Jarred Brooks in points, wins straw belt

MANILA, Philippines—Jarred Brooks kept his promise and knocked out Joshua Pacio for the world strawweight title on Saturday at ONE 164 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Fighting with calculated aggression, Brooks executed the perfect game plan on his way to a unanimous decision win.
Brooks said: “I have the utmost respect for Joshua Pacio. was very vocal about taking down Pacio in the lead up to their match.
“I know I have the right to choose my words… I love the Filipino people. I really want to show my heart. I’ve been a heel hitter in a lot of my last matches and I’m a good guy.

With Pacio’s loss, the Philippines and Team Lakay are no longer world champions.
Pacio reclaims his straw belt in April 2019 and successfully defended it three times before Brooks knocked him down.
It was a mixed bag for the Philippines in ONE Championship’s return to the Philippines with a handful of boxers winning at home.
In ONE Fight Night 5 this morning also at MOA Arena, Denice Zamboanga and Jackie Buntan overcame their enemies but Team Lakay remained resilient Eduard Folayang was stopped in the second half at the hands of Brazil’s Edson Marques.
Former world champion Geje Eustaquio also derailed while competing for the title. first round knockout by Hu Yong of China at ONE 164 as a longtime heavyweight mixed martial artist Brandon Vera calls it a career after losing to Amir Aliakbar by technical knockout.
But Team Lakay found a glimmer in Jhanlo SanGiao, the son of coach Mark SanGiao, who scored a goal. overwhelming victory over fellow Filipino Anacleto.
Dr. Zamboanga, Denice and Jeremy Pacatiw’s brother also led the Filipinos to victory.
