MANILA, Philippines — Rain or Shine received a timely spark from rookie Gian Mamuyac to win 106-94, helping Terrafirma mark the questionable mark as having the second-longest slide in history on Sunday at the Cup PBA Commissioner at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Mamuyac scored all of his 17 points in the final part of the third quarter and the entire duration of the fourth period when the Elasto Painters were able to pull away and score consecutive wins after the game returned to their home. Coach Yeng Guiao started with a loss to the NLEX Road Warriors.
Former Ateneo’s coach Yeng Guiao said: “Mamu gave us his points at a crucial moment. “He’s probably more about his defense but he can balance himself into a player who can play at both ends.”
Import Steve Taylor had 20 points, 24 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks while veteran Beau Belga and sophomore keeper Andrei Caracut added 12 points.
The Elasto artists took Dyip to a 0-3 record in the mid-season tournament and a 19th consecutive defeat, breaking the tie with 1980’s Great Taste for second place overall.
Blackwater holds the record for incompetence after losing its 29th consecutive game in three games between the 2020 Philippine Leaders Cup and the 2022 Governors Cup.
Dyip import Lester Prosper held 20 points behind the outputs of 41 and 43 to start his second PBA foray.
Mamuyac had two-three in a pivotal game that saw Rain or Shine take a 75-66 lead after Terrafirma cut to four, 68-64.
He will then take 11 penalties, marked by a number of hits that allow him to foul and convert most of his points from the foul line to send Rain or Shine into safe territory. more complete.
