MANILA, Philippines – Blackwater is back in the PBA Commissioner’s trophy-winning column and they expect to have someone to play the most important role when Bossing takes place next week.
Coach Ariel Vanguardia is looking to launch seasoned player JVee Casio as the club take on TNT for a global conference win.
“We are praying that he will play the next game, and that he will be back in the next game. It’s (against) TNT,” he said on Friday, on the heel of decision 93-86 on Terrafirma at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.
Casio is Blackwater’s lead point guard, and before the hiatus was the second best producer behind rookie Ato Ular, winning 11.8 points in the last Philippine Cup despite being 36 years old.
An 11-year veteran, Casio has yet to compete in this tournament due to a groin injury. Before that, he also sprained in a friendly against the Bay Area away team during the mid-season break.
Vanguardia also hopes that the gap until his team clash with Tropang Giga 1-1 will further increase the possibility that Casio could make a comeback.
“We have eight days to prepare, and then we’ll play again,” he said.
Holding the fort so far with 3-3 Blackwater is the imported Cameron Krutwig and the revived Baser Amer.
