Remember Tuesday? The day that Game Freak release a video for Pokémon Scarlet And Violet provocative a new kind of electricity monster. It reveals Iona, a Gym Leader for next month’s game, who looks like a vtuber and a click is like one. Today, we get to know the brand new Pokémon that will be the mainstay of her game.
Its Bellibolt, looks like a Politoad moved next door to a McDonald’s. Did you guess correctly? Can you guess a Pokémon that never existed before?! Iono literally trolled in this new video about dirty acts.

Let me tell you about “EleFrog Pokémon” Bellibolt. It is a small type of electricity that expands and contracts its body to generate electricity, which it does “in an organ that looks like a navel.” That’s not the only part of its body that doesn’t look like it — the “eyes” on either side of its head are actually swellings from which it discharges electricity. It was horrifying. The little dots above the mouth are its actual kawaii eyes.
One of its abilities is Electromorphosis, which is also a brand new one, and allows Bellibolt to essentially absorb energy from enemy attacks, making its tracking even more powerful. Which is definitely neat.
We also learned a little more about Iono herself, which is that she is the Head of Gym for an area called Levincia, and specializes in Electric types. It will be interesting to see if her frantic streaming videos also appear in the game and indeed if there is an effort to localize them or have her voiceover in the original Japanese.
A second short video also appeared today, this one showing Iono and Bellibolt in battle, and also a Bellibolt in the wild, battling other wild monsters.
There are only five weeks of this madness left before the game is truly in our hands, and the Switch, on November 18.
