Police arrest woman accused of drug delivery overdose causing death

WEST BRANCH, Mich. (WNEM) – In mid-March, Michigan State Police were dispatched to a medical emergency in East Tawas where a victim of a drug overdose was believed to have been delivered to them by another East Tawas resident.

The incident occurred on March 15. East Tawas First responders and soldiers of the Michigan State Police attempted first aid, but the victim – a 35-year-old East Tawas man – was told was dead at the scene.

After further investigation, MSP determined the victim died from a drug overdose. MSP later identified a suspect, Cara Elizabeth Cummings, 35, of East Tawas, who is believed to have been transporting narcotics.

On Friday, June 3, Cummings was arrested on a two-count warrant.
