Pope begs Putin to end ‘spiral of violence and death’, cites nuclear threat

VATICAN CITY: Pope Francis made a compelling appeal on Sunday to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to stop “this cycle of violence and death” in Ukrainesays the crisis there risks nuclear escalation with uncontrollable global consequences.
In a speech dedicated to Ukraine, Pope Francis also called on the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy open to any “serious peace suggestions”.
