Premier League footballer accused of rape is now being investigated on suspicion of third sexual offence | UK News
A Premier League footballer who has been arrested on suspicion of raping two women is currently under investigation in relation to a third sex crime.
The player, who has not been named, was first arrested in Barnet, north London, on 4 July last year for rape allegations brought in June by a woman in her 20s.
While in custody, he continued to be arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a second woman in April and June 2021.
In July last year, the Metropolitan Police said it would take no further action in relation to the alleged June 2021 incident as the relevant law was not yet in effect at that time.
But on Thursday, police said the man was questioned last month under caution in connection with a sex offense allegedly committed in Barnet in February 2022.
This involves a third victim and was reported in July 2022, police said.
Police said the 29-year-old man denied the charges, adding that his bail had been extended.
