MANILA, Philippines – Celine Domingo has maintained her fine performance over the past few months to kick off Creamline’s Grand Slam win in the 2022 Premier League Volleyball League Enhancement Conference.
Confident with the confidence of their effective Invitationals and international records, Domingo put in 17 points, including shots in the fourth set, to Lift Creamline over PLDT, 25-21, 22-25, 25-20. 26-24, on Thursday at the Philsports Arena.
The vastly improved mid laner, who has 11 attacks, three blocks and three aces, said she wants to keep going strong for Cool Smashers.
“I’m continuing what I started (in previous tournaments) and I guess, I’m just embracing the role and responsibility that was given to me,” Domingo said in Filipino after she agreed with Alyssa Valdez and Yeliz Basa from Turkey to lead the team.
The 23-year-old Far Eastern University standout played a key role in Creamline’s race for a second title this season as she led the team in the Invitational Conference final against KingWhale Taipei and became the Final MVP.
The 5 foot 9 tall roadblock also made a good account of himself on the international stage when Cool Smashers sans Valdez represented the national team and finished sixth in the Women’s AVC Cup in Manila before taking final place in the Asean Grand Prix in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
“It was an important part of my improvement. Because we were up against stronger teams, taller teams, faster teams. That is why I brought everything I learned from competing in international tournaments to this conference,” said Domingo.
Besides the confidence she has gained from their previous campaigns, Domingo also credits Creamline’s trust and teamwork.
“I am really happy because everyone is so supportive. Our contact inside the courthouse was always there so it wasn’t hard for me to contribute,” she said.
Domingo looks to keep her improvement going as Creamline’s path to ‘three peat’ continues with a rematch in the Reinforced 2019 final against champion Petro Gazz on Tuesday.
