MANILA, Philippines – Denden Lazaro-Revilla welcomed F2 Logistics dynamic duo Lindsay Stalzer and Kalei Mau with her superb defense to deliver Choco Mucho’s first win in the League Booster Conference Volleyball Premier League 2022.
Against her old rivals in the final of the Philippine Superliga three years ago, Lazaro was everywhere to defend Choco Mucho’s stage and add to the frustration that F2 Logistics didn’t win. 25-21, 22-25, 25-20, 26-24, on Thursday at the Philsports Arena.
The multi-award winning libero admits that the attacks of her former Cocolife-UVC teammate Mau and US-imported Stalzer are tough to fend off but she has stood her ground with 26 digs and 11 excellent tackles.
“Lindsay and Kalei bring the fire in F2, they are also leaders. Aby is there for the locals but both bring extra firepower and will. Going against them is always tough and of course, F2, we all know they’re a solid team. They gave us a good fight,” said Revilla.
“It’s difficult when they are strong, they have more experience than me. But I am really grateful that we were able to prepare well today,” she added.
Choco Mucho coach Oliver Almadro knew his star reporter would work.
“It’s Den Lazaro. I told her that we will leave (floor defense) up to you. Den replied that she had us. If you have a player like that, that’s less of an issue for us to worry about. When you have teammates and players like that, you never make a mistake,” Almadro said in Filipino.
Despite his stellar game, Revilla distracted his teammates, led by Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan import Odina Aliyeva, who launched 27 points and provided a superb defensive effort with 29. reception and 14 excellent digs.
“It all started in practice and of course when we lost the last game. But I wouldn’t have been able to do it without my teammates. I mean their discipline in the patterns of containment and defense. Our mediator played well today. Kudo to our coaching staff and my teammates,” she said.
After their libero’s impressive performance, the Flying Titans improved to 1-1 when they were hit back from a lost three tough sets to Petro Gazz Last Tuesday.
