It’s been a few months since a Video technician installed our new Honeywell Home T10 Pro Smart Thermostat with our Indoor Redlink® Room Sensor and you can tell the difference. The house feels more comfortable, there is less drastic temperature swings between rooms and, best of all, there is a difference in our monthly heating and cooling bills.
A quick recap for you: Our 1950s house was extremely inefficient when it came to heating, cooling, and complete temperature control. Due to the layout of the house, some rooms receive the sun all day and are hot, while others are completely cold. After living with this temperature change for the past two years, we need to address this. (Read more on the topic here.)
Part of the impetus is that our current spending is frozen. I went through all of our expenses with a wide-tooth comb, looking for places we could cut (or eliminate expenses altogether). This house is a project house, but I don’t know how many utilities it will cost when we move. Temperatures in Minnesota can fluctuate by 100 degrees throughout the year, so we need to be as efficient as possible.
There had to be a more efficient way to make the house comfortable without spending a lot of money (namely replacing both of our furnaces). I love a good challenge, and in this case, I was determined to reduce our energy bills.
I’m super excited about Honeywell Home’s T10 Pro Smart Thermostat with Redlink® Room Sensor because it’s connected to our smart home hubs. I like to upgrade smart home when you can to make your home more efficient.
Here are some other things I noticed after switching to the Honeywell Home T10 Pro Smart Thermostat with Redlink® Room Sensor:
I can adjust the temperature in specific rooms.
Previous: South Side – HOT throughout the day; North – Cold
After: With the Honeywell Home T10 Pro Smart Thermostat with Redlink® Room Sensor, I can control the temperature in SPECIFIC rooms. Right. It could be 69 in the family room and 71 in the dig room. In addition, the Honeywell Home T10 Pro Smart Thermostat with Redlink® Room Sensor can sense movement if someone is in the room and adjust accordingly.
I can adjust the temperature from anywhere.
Before: Temperature adjustment was done manually via the dial. No programming functionality or remote capabilities.
After: I can set the temperature from my phone. I can program, heat/cool, turn on/off and adjust any and all settings on the fly.
I get a temperature warning.
Before: Nothing. It’s always a surprise (an unpleasant thing) when the bill comes in each month.
After: I can get notifications if the temperature changes in one room or another and make a sensible decision in the moment versus vowing to keep the house at 64 in winter and 80 in summer to save money. save money.
I can’t recommend doing “smart” upgrades when you can. Products with apps and smart home hubs like the Honeywell Home T10 Pro Smart Thermostat with Redlink® Room Sensors make the difference in home comfort and energy bills our.
OH! If you have a leak-prone basement, I highly recommend using a Wi-Fi video water leak detector. A few months ago we experienced a huge storm. Literally the smallest puddle (about the size of a spilled glass of water) was enough for the sensor to move and send an alert to my phone. It’s nice to have the problem fixed immediately instead of being surprised by a flooded basement the next day.
