Rupert Grint and Emma Watson share heartfelt tributes to late Harry Potter colleague Robbie Coltrane
Rupert Grint and Emma Watson honoring their late co-star Robbie Coltrane.
As we reported, the actor – known for his lovable role as Rubeus Hagrid in Harry Potter franchise – sadly passed away at the age of 72 at a hospital near his home in Larbert, Scotland on Friday. The cause of death is unknown at this point, but Limit line reported that his representative, Scott Hendersonhe shared that in poor health for the past two years.

After the heartbreaking news of his death, many people Harry Potter cast, including Daniel Radcliffe, take a moment to pay tribute to Robbie on social media. And the latest tribute comes from Rupert, who played Ron Weasley in the series. Taking to social media over the weekend, the 34-year-old actor said Robbie called Robbie a “man with a huge heart” along with a photo of his favorite character Hagrid sitting in front of his hut:
“Heartbroken to hear that Robbie has passed away. I’ll never forget the smell of cigars and beard spray – a great combination. No one else on this planet can play Hagrid, only Robbie. Like Hagrid in the books and movies, Robbie is in real life – warm, compassionate, and hilarious. A man with a huge heart who still watches over us even decades later. Sending love to his family. See you on the other side Bobser. “
Meanwhile, Emma, who plays Hermione Granger, touchedly shared Instagram Stories posted a photo of her and Robbie at an event, writing:
“Robbie was like the funniest uncle I ever had but most of all, he was so caring and compassionate to me as a child and as an adult. His talent was immense, which meant he played a giant – he could fill ANY void with his brilliance.”
She continued:
“Robbie, if I can be so kind to me on set, I promise I will do it on your behalf and your memory. How much I love and admire you. I really miss your sweetness, your nickname, your warmth, your laughter and your hugs. You made us a family. Know that you were the same with us. Rest In Peace, Robbie Coltrane, There’s no better Hagrid. You made it a pleasure being Hermione. “
Such beautiful words from both Emma and Rupert. Our hearts continue to go out to Robbie’s friends and family during this difficult time.
