Salvo Health Digital Gastroenterology Startup Launches With $10.5 Million



Digital digestive care startup Salvo Health launched last week with $10.5 million in seed funding.

The round was led by Threshold Ventures with participation from Torch Capital and Felicis Ventures.

WHAT ARE THEY DOING

The startup offers a virtual clinic geared towards people with chronic intestinal problems, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), celiac disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), dyspepsia Digestion and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO).

For a $127 per month membership, users are paired with a care team that includes a physician, health coach, and care navigator. They can help develop a plan for nutrition, brain exercises, and sleep and stress management. Doctors can also help patients access diagnostic tests or medications.

Salvo executives said the company will use the new money to invest in technology, market its services, research member experiences and outcomes, and expand to more states. . The startup currently operates in California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, Tennessee, Connecticut, Kentucky, and Virginia.

“There’s no quick cure for all chronic conditions like IBS or GERD, but with the right treatment from our team of experts and equipping our members with multi-tools and strategies form, we can help people restore balance in their lives.” CEO and co-founder Jeff Glueck said in a statement. “The conventional health system often emphasizes chronic GI conditions, so we brought together leading minds to deliver comprehensive and accessible care through a app, easy to use.”

Salvo is not alone in the virtual gastrointestinal care space. Another startup that offers patients a virtual care team to manage gut health issues is Oshi Health, announces $23 million Series A round in October last year. In March, Oshi launch a partnership with virtual care company Firefly Health to provide its services to their members.

Meanwhile, Viviante Health raised $16 million in a Series A round March. Along with Oshi, it was added Solera Health’s chronic care management tools and benefits marketplace end of that month.
