Sanjay Raut’s wife appears before ED for questioning in money laundering case | Mumbai News


MUMBAI: Team leader Shiv Sena Sanjay Raut‘Wife of Varsha Raut on saturday appeared before Executive Board (ED) here in relation to money laundering.
The case is related to alleged irregularities in the redevelopment of a ‘chawl’ and related transactions.

The central authority issued a summons to Varsha Raut earlier this week. Accordingly, she arrived at the ED office located at Ballard Estate in south Mumbai at 10:40 am.
She is expected to face her husband, who is currently in ED custody, and several other defendants involved in the case.
Police officers were deployed in large numbers outside the ED office.
The Central Authority is conducting an investigation in relation to an alleged Rs 1,034 land scam related to the redevelopment of the Patra “chawl” in the Goregaon area of ​​Mumbai.
Sanjay Raut, a member of the Rajya Sabha, was arrested by the ED in this case on August 1 and a local court on Thursday sent him away for further detention until August 8.
The ED had previously told the court that Sanjay Raut and his family had received “crime proceeds” worth more than Rs 1 crore generated from alleged irregularities in the redevelopment project. House.
In April, ED temporarily tied assets worth more than Rs 11.15 crore to Varsha Raut and two associates of Sanjay Raut as part of an investigation. The attached properties are land held by Pravin M Raut, assistant to Sanjay Raut and former director of Guru Ashish Construction Private Limited, in Palghar, Saphale (a town in Palghar) and Padgha (in Thane district), .
The properties also include an apartment on the outskirts of Mumbai Dadar held by Varsha Raut and eight plots of land at Kihim beach in Alibaug owned by Varsha Raut and Swapna Patkar, the wife of Sujit Patkar, a “close associate” of Sanjay Raut, hold on. speak.
ED has previously said that Guru Ashish Construction Private Limited has been involved in the redevelopment of a property with 672 tenants living in 47-acre leases under the Housing Area Development Authority. in Maharashtra (MHADA).
