Security guard allegedly shot and killed woman at XTC Cabaret in Dallas

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Police are investigating what events led to security officers at XTC Cabaret in Dallas shooting dead a woman Saturday morning. The club claims the guards feel threatened, but their version of events has been disputed by users on social media.

According to Dallas police, officers responded to a call from XTC Cabaret, located at 8550 N. Stemmons Freeway. Upon arrival, they found the victim as Shalonda Lofton, 32, identified by Dallas police as Shalanda Anderson, with a gunshot wound.

Lofton was taken to the hospital by Dallas Fire-Rescue, but she was later pronounced dead.

Police say their preliminary investigation found that Lofton was shot by a 26-year-old female security guard. A 30-year-old male security guard is also said to have opened fire on Lofton’s car.

The Dallas County District Attorney’s Integrity will conduct an independent investigation, but police said a grand jury referral will be sent to the Dallas County District Attorney’s office.

In a statement, XTC Cabaret alleges that a driver ran over the female security guard – who was employed through a third party – while she was driving in the wrong direction through the club car park.

XTC said the security guard was hit by a car driver, clamping her between the vehicle and a truck. Allegedly “her leg was crushed and her foot ran over” and “allegedly feared for her life, the security guard shot the driver when the guard was hit and before the driver could be seriously injured or killed.“The pub’s statement made no mention of whether another guard fired their weapon.

On social media, users who identified themselves as friends of Lofton disputed XTC’s timeline of events and showed up Saturday night to protest her death. Another protest was planned for the evening of June 26.

The Dallas Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding this investigation to contact SIU Detective Cayce Shelton at 214-671-4707 or by email.
