Jennifer Lopez saved her best wedding dress for her second big wedding with Ben Affleck in Georgia. The two celebrated their nuptials with a second ceremony yesterday at Affleck’s Riceboro estate in the presence of friends and family.
The paparazzi captured several overhead shots of the all-white wedding ceremony, along with the first photo of Lopez’s stunning dress. The singer wore a short dress with a long neckline, tassels and veil. The cape seems backless and mermaid silhouette based on aerial shots, but the finer details are yet to be revealed, including its designer. Page six reported before the ceremony that Lopez is expected to wear a custom Ralph Lauren dress, but that has yet to be confirmed by Lopez or the designer.
It was only a matter of time until Lopez shared a close-up of the dress, as Lopez and Affleck appeared posing for their own wedding photographer in a number of paparazzi shots. Page six ran.
Lopez shared photos from her intimate Las Vegas wedding with Affleck the day after the surprise ceremony featured two dresses she wears for it. She also recalled details from the Vegas ceremony and how she felt about marrying her great love Affleck 20 years after they were originally supposed to be married.
She wrote in her On the JLo . newsletter:
We can do it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patience. Twenty years of patience.
Exactly what we wanted. Last night we flew to Vegas, standing in line for permits with four other couples, all making the same journey to the wedding capital of the world. Behind us two men held hands and held each other. In front of us, a young couple drove three hours from Victorville on their daughter’s second birthday — we all wanted the same thing — for the world to recognize us as life partners and declare our love to the world through the almost universal symbol of marriage.
We barely made it to the small white wedding chapel at midnight. They graciously opened the door a few minutes late, letting us take pictures in a pink Cadillac convertible, which had apparently been used by the king himself (but if we wanted Elvis himself to show up, there was an extra charge. and he’s in bed).
So with the best eyewitnesses you can imagine, a dress from an old movie and a coat from Ben’s closet, we recited our own vows in the little chapel and gave each other a ring that we will wear for the rest of our lives. They even have Bluetooth for a (short) march down the aisle. But in the end it was the best wedding we could have imagined. One that we had long dreamed of and one that came true (in the eyes of the state government, Las Vegas, a pink convertible and another) in the end for a very, very long time.
When love is real, the only thing that matters in a marriage is each other and the promise we make to love, care, understand, be patient, loving and kind to each other. We had that. And more. The best night of our lives. Thank you Little White Wedding Chapel for letting me use the break room to change while Ben changed in the men’s room.
They were right when they said, “all you need is love”. We are so grateful to have that abundance, a wonderful new family of 5 wonderful children, and a life we have never had more reason to look forward to. Stick around long enough and maybe you’ll find the best moment of your life driving through Las Vegas at 12:30 a.m. in the tunnel of love through, with your kids and your friend will be by your side forever. Love is a wonderful thing, possibly the best — and worth the wait.
