The sheriff also noted in a news conference that Wesley was engaging in suspicious behavior at the time – including “around the park, around dark places” and “stop, look around” , move again.” As a result, Stanley said police stopped the suspect at the Village Green Drive and Winslow Avenue areas in Central Valley City, where five of the murders took place, around 2 a.m.
Based on CNN, Wesley is accused of being responsible for the murders that took place from July 8 to September 27 of this year. He also allegedly shot and killed a 40-year-old man in Oakland in April 2021. Stanley previously shared on Facebook:
“These murders happen in the evening or early morning and our victims are alone.”
In addition to the Oakland shooting, other murders include a 35-year-old man on July 8, a 43-year-old man on August 11, and a 21-year-old man on August 30. a 52 year old man. a man on September 21 and a 54-year-old man on September 27. The motive behind the murders remains unknown. Wesley was involved in the brutal assault of a 46-year-old woman named Natasha LaTour. In an interview with 209 times, the woman said she was living on the street when she saw someone wearing dark pants, a dark hoodie and a black mask outside her tent. The person then approached her with a gun and aimed at her:
“They pulled out their guns, and they just started shooting. I only see lightning. People are ready. They didn’t draw their guns from anywhere. It was out. When they dipped that corner, it came loose, and it was pointed at me.”
She was shot “9 or 10 times” but survived. Gosh. We can’t imagine how scary that must be. Following the arrest, Mayor Stockton Kevin Lincoln expressed that people can “rest a little easier tonight”, adding:
“I want to make this very clear, to the people of Stockton, the United States, and around the world. When the people of Stockton come together and we are united, we can get the job done. Stockton will be a place where people can live, raise families and grow businesses.”
While Wesley has been taken into custody, the investigation is still ongoing at this point – so we’ll have to see what happens next with this case.
