Shakira posts cryptic video after split from footballer Gerard Piqué: ‘I knew this was going to happen’
Shakira shared a cryptic video following her divisive shock from Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué.
She and Piqué, a defender for Barcelona FC, have been together for 12 years and share two sons, Milan, nine, and Sasha, seven.
Post to InstagramThe 45-year-old Colombian singer shared a short video of a woman reaching for a bleeding heart suddenly being stepped on by a man’s foot.

She captioned the clip: “Nunca dije nada, pero me dolía. Yo sabía que esto pasaría,” which translates as “I never said anything, but it hurts. I knew this was going to happen.”
The post comes after several other cryptic posts that share some brief sayings in Spanish.
The first reading, “No fue culpa Tuya…”, means “It’s not your fault.”
The second reading, “Ni tampoco cane,” means “Neither mine”.
The third reads “Fue culpa de la monotonía”, which translates as “It’s the fault of monotony”.
The posts appeared in the opening for a new album by Shakira, titled Monotonia and released on October 19.

Piqué and Shakira met in 2010 when she was filming the music video for her song Waka Waka (This time for Africa) to promote the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Piqué appeared in the video and the couple started dating.
During the 12 years of love, the couple has never been married, the singer once stated that the marriage made her “frightened”.
Speaking on 60 minutes US in December 2020, Shakira told interviewer Bill Whittaker: “We’re not married. To tell you the truth, marriage scares me. I don’t want him to consider me a wife. I would rather be him. He sees me as his girlfriend.”
She and Piqué have a 10-year age difference, with Piqué being the younger suitor. Since the couple officially split in June, the footballer has been attached to a younger woman – 23-year-old PR student Clara Chia Marti.
