SpaceX ferries astronauts back to Earth after half-year away


CAPE CANAVERAL (USA): Four astronauts return to Earth in one SpaceX capsuleended their nearly six-month space station mission with a crash in the Atlantic Ocean off Florida.
Wet and windy weather across Florida delayed their return home. SpaceX and Nasa finally made it all clear on Friday, and three Americans and one Italian departed International Space Stationtheir whereabouts since April.
The capsule parachuted into the ocean, just off Jacksonville, Florida, about five hours after it left the space station. It carries Nasa astronauts Kjell Lindgren, Bob Hines and Jessica WatkinsThe first Black woman to complete a long-term spaceflight, and the European Space Agency Samantha Cristoforetti. SpaceX delivered their replacement last week.
Before checking out, the astronauts said they couldn’t wait to have a cold glass of iced water, eat some pizza and ice cream, take a shower, enjoy nature and, of course, reunite with their families. . Nasa planned to rush them to Houston as they disembark from SpaceX’s recovery ship and return to solid ground.
“Getting the first few hugs when we get back is really going to be great,” Hines told reporters earlier in the week.
Remaining on the space station are three Americans, three Russians and one Japanese.
