SpiceJet aircraft’s tyre bursts on landing in Mumbai | Mumbai News
MUMBAI: A SpiceJet Boeing 737-800 flying from Delhi to Mumbai suffered a blown tire upon landing at the city’s airport on Monday morning.
Flight SG-8701 departed from Delhi at around 7:30am and landed around 9:00am on main runway 27 of Mumbai airport.
“The main runway was closed for inspection after the incident. Two incoming flights were forced to make a round,” a source said.
A SpiceJet spokesperson said: “The aircraft landed safely on runway 27. Upon landing, after leaving the runway, a tire was found to be deflated. No smoke or fumes were reported. . The aircraft was parked at the designated airfield as recommended by air traffic control”. A SpiceJet spokesperson said there were no abnormalities during the landing. Passengers disembark normally.
Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is likely to cancel the registration of two more B737 aircraft operating with SpiceJet using cash.
A request under the Irrevocable Export Request Authorization and De-registration (IDERA) was filed by the Irish rental company last week. Earlier this month, DGCA deregistered four B737s at similar requests from two other lessors.
