Charles Boyd, former creative director of Star Wars: The Old Republicwill leave BioWare after 16 years.
Gary Mckay, general manager of BioWare, said, “He leaves SWTOR in excellent hands with an incredible team that will execute on our vision for the game. We are committed to the future of SWTOR as we continue to work on Dragon Age and the next Mass Effect,” regarding Boyd’s departure.
Boyd had this to say about leaving Star Wars: The Old Republic:
“The Star Wars Galaxy has always been a big part of my life since I was a kid, so playing a role in SWTOR’s development from its initial vision to its massive release huge and then an incredible live service over a decade ago was an amazing Experience.”
Boyd went on to assure fans that The Old Republic has “interesting things in the works” with new planets, gameplay, and characters all appearing in the game.
Even after Boyd left, many on the design leadership team remained, such as Eric Musco, a lead producer with The Old Republic for more than 10 years, and Ashley Ruhl, the narrative director, who played a key role in creating the scenes for Knights of the Eternal Throne and led the production team for Legacy of the Sith. Others include Caitlin Sullivan Kelly, lead screenwriter; Alan Copeland, UX director; and Geroge Smith, director of gameplay design.
