Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has announced that their Yakuza-adjacent Judgment series will be available on Steam for the first time. Best news: they launched on Steam today.
Judgment and Lost Judgment will launch on Steam on September 14. This is the first appearance of each game on PC (though Judgment is already available to stream on PC via PC). Stadia).
This news is especially important because RGG Studio originally planned to release Lost Judgment on PC when it came out last year. That version, however, fell through when the talent agency representing actor Takuya Kimura, who played the main character Takayuki Yagami, enforced strict policies about allowing Kimura to look like on PC. The failure of both parties to agree threatened Judgment’s future as a franchise as RGG Studio pushed many of its titles to Steam; such as every major Yakuza game available on the storefront. Looks like those issues have been resolved, which bodes well for the potential for a third game.
The Judgment games are an action-horror genre that follows the same open-world design pattern as the Yakuza series. Although the storylines largely take place in Kamurocho, the series features a new cast of characters and an emphasis on investigative gameplay. The player controls Yagami, a disgraced lawyer and private detective who works to unravel a pair of conspiracies. In Yakuza fashion, he’s also always willing to help his colorful clients and random citizens with problems that are more subdued – or humorously absurd -.
