The Number of Cryptocurrency ATMs Installed Worldwide Surpasses 39,000 – Bitcoin News


This week, the number of cryptocurrency automated teller machines (ATMs) operating worldwide surpassed the 39,000 mark. Since January 2017 when the number of machines reached nearly 1 thousand, the number of crypto ATMs has increased by 3,925% since then. The number of crypto ATMs has grown exponentially in the past 23 months since September 1, 2020, when there were less than 10k machines worldwide.

There are now 39,011 crypto ATMs installed across 77 countries

During the first week of August 2022, the number of distributed digital currencies with automated teller machines (ATMs) operating globally surpassed the 39k mark. In fact, across 77 countries, 614 crypto ATM operators have 39,011 crypto ATMs installed, according to figures recorded by coinatmradar.com.

On January 1, 2017, there were around 969 crypto ATMs globally, and since that time the number of installations has grown 3.925%. Geographical distribution statistics shows that North America dominates with 95.1% of all crypto ATMs worldwide with 37,081 machines.

The United States controls 87.9% of all crypto ATMs installed worldwide with 34,299 machines. The rest of the world’s share of crypto ATMs operating today is around 4.9% with Europe accounting for 3.8% of that.

As for North America, Canada owns 6.3% of all ATMs worldwide, or a total of 2,461 crypto ATMs. Of the 39,011 crypto ATMs on coinatmradar.com, data shows that 38,998 of them support bitcoin (BTC).

However, 33,056 in total also support alternative crypto assets. Litecoin (LTC) is distributed across 32,466 machines, ethereum (ETH) supported by 29,324 devices, dogecoin (DOGE) held on 16,132 machines, and bitcoin cash (BCH ONLY) has support over 13,801 crypto ATMs.

Top Crypto ATM Operators and Manufacturers in 2022

The top crypto ATM operator in terms of number of active machines worldwide is Bitcoin Depot with 17.7% of the global total or 6,896 crypto ATMs installed. Following Bitcoin Depot are Coincloud (5,643 machines), Coinflip (4,124 machines), US Bitcoin (2,339 machines), Bitstop (1969 machines) and Rockitcoin (1,781 machines).

Genesis Coin is leading crypto ATM machine manufacturer globally as it represents 40.6% of machines today, while General Bytes comes in second with 22.8% of crypto ATMs produced in the world. Followed by crypto ATM makers Genesis Coin and General Bytes are Bitaccess (15.8%), Coinsource (5.2%), Bitstop (4.9%) and Bytefederal (2.8%).

Coinatmradar.com also statistics the speed of installed crypto machines over time. The portal dedicated to crypto ATM statistics states that the speed is recorded using a scale “calculated based on the last 60 days, [while] The speed is calculated based on the last 7 days. “

On Sunday, August 7, 2022, the meter showed that 14.7 crypto ATMs being installed one day at the current rate. That means in about 67.27 days the number of crypto ATMs installed worldwide will hit 40k at that rate.
