Mobile Suit Gundam is back with its first new series in almost seven years and Bandai Namco wants everyone to check it out. The opening episode of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury is currently available to stream for free on YouTube, while the rest of the series will run until October.
Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury takes place in one of Multiple alternate timelines of Gundam. It follows the story of Suletta Mercury, the first female lead in the Mobile Suit Gundam series, who transferred to the Asticassia School of Technology in AS 122. At this point in the Gundam universe, corporations have expanded into space to created an economic system, with the Beneritt Corporation, which also ran Mercury’s school, controlling most of the giant mechanical, portable clothing manufacturing industry that gave the franchise its name.
The prologue mainly focuses on introducing the world of the series and setting the stage for the upcoming events. The prologue has been in Japan for a while, but this YouTube video is the first time it’s available to the rest of the world. The rest of the series will premiere later this year, but there’s no word yet on when episodes will be able to stream.
