Trishul, rising Sun or mashaal: Thackeray suggests three poll symbols after EC order | India News

NEW DELHI: One day later Election Commission (EC) temporarily banned Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde’s rival groups use Shiv Sena arrow or ‘bow and arrow’ poll icon, the group led by Uddhav on Sunday said it had sent three icons to the polls: ‘Trishul‘, ‘mashaal’ and ‘sunrise’.
Now the EC will decide and allocate the symbol”, said MP Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) Arvind Sawant. The voting board has given Uddhav and the Shinde team until October 10 for each to make three choices for the poll icon and three choices for a new name to be used during the upcoming East Andheri pause on November 3.
“Our group’s name is Shiv Sena, if EC gives any name related to Shiv Sena including ‘Shiv Sena (Balasaheb Thackeray)’, ‘Shiv Sena (Prabodhankar Thackeray) ‘or’ Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray)’, that’s acceptable to us,” Sawant said.
