UAAP: Fil-A’s Sean Alter joins UP

MANILA, Philippines—University of the Philippines continues to make moves during the UAAP season after securing the services of Sean Alter-African-American.

Alter, a 6-foot-8 boxer, has formalized his intention to enter the Fighting Maroons in the 2023 Smart-NBTC National Finals with FilNation-Select.

Alter is averaging 5.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game in the league.

UP basketball program director Bo Perasol said Sunday that the development “is the product of fruitful discussions between Sean, his family, our coaching staff, the UPMBT management team and alumni participating in the program.”

“Sean is another important piece of the puzzle for us to continue to compete in UAAP,” Perasol said.

“There is a shared belief in what we are working to achieve in UP, and we are delighted that Sean will be part of a team committed to upholding the values ​​of our University.”

UP failed to retain the UAAP crown last season after losing to Ateneo in the final.

The Alter acquisition solidified an already stacked UP front line led by UAAP MVP Malick Diouf.

UP coach Gold Monteverde said: “The team would benefit from having another player with the same work ethic and desire to win as Sean.

“We understand that the success of the team is closely linked to the proper development of the players, which is why part of the coaching staff’s commitment is to focus on the development and training of rookies. ours.”

Alter, who qualified for Season 86, is the latest big guy to join the Fighting Maroons.

Recently, La Salle Greenhills featured Luis Pablo, Seven Gagate and Josh Coronel also committed to play for UP.
