Vandy Roars to Beat Michigan in Thriller NIT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A final 9-0 scoreline helped the Vanderbilt men’s basketball team overcome an eight-point lead and lift the Commodores to a 66-65 win over Michigan in the second round of the NIT at Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday.
Tyrin Lawrence kicked off the comeback with a 3-point match with 58 seconds left, ending the rally with a steering drive after 12 seconds to go on to claim the highest 24 points in the game for Commodores. (22-14). In between, Ezra Manjon made a couple of free throws and a drive to add 17 points.
Lawrence added the best nine rebounds on the team, with Quentin Millora-Brown contributing five, and Colin Smith scoring all 11 points for Vandy in the first half.
Team Dores will now play host to the winner of Sunday’s second round match between UAB and Morehead State on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Hunter Dickinson led the Wolverines (18-16) with a match-best 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Dug McDaniel scored 19 points.
