Wales beat Scotland on Sunday, with both sides booked for the World Cup in South Africa
Wales and Scotland have qualified for the 2023 Netball World Cup in South Africa after taking the top two at the European Qualifiers in Glasgow.
Six teams will compete in a round-robin to win places for next year’s top-notch netball competition. Northern Ireland missed unfortunately after finishing in third place.
The competition is the fourth of five qualifiers taking place around the world. The Americas Netball World Cup qualifier is the final competition and will take place in Kingston, Jamaica from October 16-21.
Scottish Thistles and Welsh Feathers joining England Vitality Roses have already qualified.
Scotland beat the Isle of Man, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Gibraltar to qualify alongside Wales
England were one of five teams invited to the World Cup based on their Netball World rankings.
Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica and Uganda also join them, with South Africa having confirmed their place due to them being the host country.
Five days of netball action ended with a tense match between Scotland and Wales. Both teams have qualified for the 2023 Netball World Cup from their previous matches, but a dramatic clash ultimately saw Wales win 58-51.
“I think we had a very clear idea of what we needed to improve from the Commonwealth Games and in about eight weeks they did, they took the first step and you’ve seen it in the performances,” said Scotland head coach Tamsin Greenway.
“You get so caught up in the journey of what you’re trying to do, you forget to take a step back and enjoy it. That’s the great thing about being a coach, when you take a step back and enjoy it. they get what they owe..
“This week has been great, we’re going to Cape Town and that’s our goal.”
Scotland beat the Isle of Man, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Gibraltar to secure a ticket to Cape Town.
