For those of you who have ever wished (…or envied) watching such a lucky few to be playing with Steam floor, I have some good news. Valve has announced that they will start sending out Steam Deck Q3 pre-order emails later this week. And, it also confirmed that they are ramping up shipping of the devices, so if you’ve ordered it, it could arrive earlier than originally expected.

Soon on TwitterValve confirmed that it sent out the final Q2 Steam Deck pre-order emails and revealed that the company plans to start sending Q3 emails on June 30. For Deck buyers who have been waiting patiently, Valve explain that production on mobile PC has increasedso it will be able to deliver twice the Steam Deck every week to customers in Q3.

All in all, a short story, many people will probably get their Steam Deck in the mail in the next few weeks, though probably won’t. assigned to them by Valve’s own Gabe Newell.

If you’re wondering what all these emails are about, when Valve announced its Steam Deck last year, they knew that demand for portable PC consoles would outstrip their ability to produce them immediately. So it created a reservation system where people can pay Valve a $5 subscription fee to be added to the queue. Then, when Valve makes the devices, it can send one of those sought-after emails to people in line to see if they’d like to complete the purchase.

Remember: Once you get the email, you only have three days to claim your reserved Steam Deck. Well, around three days. Valve tweeted that folks who miss the email can contact support for a possible extension, as there is a grace period of length undisclosed. Even so, I advise you to pay attention and not ignore that email if you really want the Steam Deck, as we don’t know how long the renewal period is.

For people like me sitting in the “After Q3” camp, this news is bittersweet. I’m glad Valve is ramping up production and shipping of the devices, and I’m glad people are getting them. But meanwhile, my fiancé kept asking me about the Steam Deck and I kept going Share bad news. At least today I can share a little more good news than bad!

Oh and if you get your Steam Deck soon, be careful about modifying it. The valve warns you that you may cause damage to the device by doing things like attaching a larger SSD, this is said to be able to shorten the overall lifespan of the Deck.
