Why Giants Should Target Tee Higgins In This WR
The Giants must improve their receptive corps for QB Daniel Jones – or whoever is in midfield in 2023.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz of The Score recently reported that the Arizona Cardinals plan to trade the all-star receiver DeAndre Hopkins. The former All-Pro would have been a great addition, but there’s a better option: Tee Higgins of the Bengals.
The Giants’ weakest link was their receiving corps. In 2022, New York lost Sterling Shepard and Wan’Dale Robinson to knee injuries at the end of the season, while Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney underperformed. New York traded Toney for the Chiefs on the trading deadline.
In nine games in 2022, Hopkins has caught 64 passes – seven more than the Giants’ season leader – with 717 yards and three TD passes. His season was cut short by a six-game ban from the start for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy.
This won’t stand in the way of New York’s interest, but the Giants at least have to ask about Higgins, who has had a great start to his career.
During his first three seasons with Cincinnati, Higgins accumulated 215 tackles from 3,028 yards and 19 touchdown passes.
A talent like Higgins doesn’t come around very often, but with stars Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase set to work out their rookie deals soon, the Bengalis may be ready to part with him.
Former Giants star Tiki Barber will endorse the deal. He said the following on WFAN Sports Radio:
