Novak Djokovic proved too classy for Nick Kyrgios on Center Court as the top seed claimed a fourth consecutive Wimbledon title and seventh overall on Sunday.
The top seed claimed her 21st Grand Slam title to overtake Roger Federer and trail only Rafael Nadal on the all-time list, which is set with a 4-6 6-3 6-4 7-6 win (7-3).
Djokovic joked about his “feelings” for Kyrgios after they shared messages on Instagram during the build-up to the match.
“Nick, you’ll be back, not just at Wimbledon but in the finals. I know it’s hard to find words of comfort after a tough loss like this, you showed why you are. deserves to be one of the best tennis players in the world, especially on this surface,” said Djokovic.
“I really respect you so much, I think you’re a phenomenal tennis player, an athlete and an incredible talent. You’ve heard that for years, but now it’s everything. begin to come to you.
“I’m sure we’ll see a lot of you in the later stages of the Grand Slams. I never thought I’d say so many good things about you, in terms of relationships. Okay, It’s officially a friendship.”
The Serbian has now won seven of the last 11 titles at the All England Club, equaling Pete Sampras and close to one of Federer’s men’s singles records here.

It has been a tough season for Djokovic but he was once again able to lean on the Center Court lawn to bring out his best, and he raised his arm after upon winning another famous victory.
Much of the excitement for the match focused on how Kyrgios will perform and behave in his first major singles final.
