X Prequel Pearl gets its first horror trailer from A24
A24 has rolled out a new trailer for Pearl, the secret prequel to X – arguably one of this year’s best horror movies. The slasher movie is slated to release on September 16.
Directed by Ti West and co-written by Mia Goth, the film will tell a younger version of her character than we’ve ever known in X. X tells the story of a group of amateur filmmakers working on an erotic movie set in rural Texas to the elderly. The couple on the ground killed and intervened. Based on the trailer you can see below, Pearl is set around the time of World War I and will tell the story of how the chalet featured in X was used as an inn during the war. picture and how it can become a place you don’t want to rent as an Airbnb.
“It’s a story a lot about Pearl. So you’ll learn more about her,” West said Bloody Disgust. “It’s very stylistically different from X. You don’t need one without the other, but they enrich each other in a particular way. In the way that X is influenced, say, filmmaking. 1970s indie horror and Americana cinema, Pearl was influenced by a very different era of filmmaking.”
In addition to Goth, Pearl’s cast includes David Corenswet (House of Cards), Tandi Wright (Nothing Trivial), Matthew Sunderland (The Luminaries), and Emma Jenkins-Purro (The Brokenwood Mysteries).
