Xi Jinping leaves Moscow after Vladimir Putin summit: Report
MOSCOW: Xi Jinping left Moscow on Wednesday after a summit with Putin which the two leaders hailed as a “new era” in their relationship, Russian news agencies reported.
The plane of the Chinese president left Vnukovo airport in Moscow after being sent off by the honor guard that sent the national anthems of Russia and China. RIA Novosti news agency said.
Senior Russian government officials attended the farewell ceremony.
Putin and Xi hailed a “new era” in their relationship during their visit and discussed Beijing’s proposals to end the Ukraine conflict.
Western countries say China’s peace proposals could allow Moscow to freeze much of the territory it already holds in Ukraine.
Xi Jinping’s visit to Moscow is seen as an impetus for Putin, who is under pressure International Criminal Court subpoena for alleged illegal deportation of Ukrainian children.
