‘Yellowstone’ actor Q’Orianka Kilcher charged with disability payments fraud – National
Actor Q’Orianka Kilcher, who appeared in the TV show Yellowstone and is known for playing Pocahontas in the 2005 film New worldwas charged with illegally collecting nearly $97,000 (about $130,000) in disability benefits.
Kilcher, 32, of North Hollywood, was charged with two counts of fraud against workers’ compensation insurance, according to a Monday press release from the California Department of Insurance (CDI).
In October 2018, Kilcher allegedly injured his neck and right shoulder while working on the set of the movie 2019 Dora and the lost city of gold.

After consulting a doctor a few times that year, Kilcher stopped treatment. A year later, in October 2019, Kilcher contacted the insurance company to process her claim and said she needed further medical help, according to the press release. The CDI said she told her doctor she had severe neck pain and was unable to accept work because of the severity of her injuries.
“Based on Kilcher’s statements to the doctor, she is beginning to receive temporary total disability benefits,” the press release read.
Between 2019 and 2021, Kilcher receives $96,838 in temporary disability benefits.

CDI said an investigation into Kilcher’s complaint, however, revealed that during her purported disability, she worked as an actress. Yellowstonewhere she played Angela Blue Thunder in four episodes alongside Kevin Costner.
Her time on set Yellowstone ran from July 2019 to October 2019, although she told her doctor she had been unable to work for a year.
“According to records, she returned to her doctor and began receiving disability benefits five days after she last worked on the program,” the statement said.

Kilcher surrendered and was charged in May, according to the California Department of Insurance.
Michael Becker, Kilcher’s attorney, said the actor was a passenger on the production vehicle when she was injured during filming. Dora.
“Third party doctors verified her injury and entitlement. Ms. Kilcher has always been upfront with her doctors and treatment providers… and she never knowingly accepted benefits she didn’t believe she was entitled to,” Becker said.

Kilcher will “strongly defend herself and demand that she afford to be found innocent both in and out of court,” Becker said.
In 2010, Kilcher was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct for tying himself to the White House fence. Her mother was arrested along with her and the couple told authorities they were protesting the visit of the Peruvian president. Kilcher’s father is a native from Peru.
