Zoey 101 Star Rally Outside Nickelodeon Headquarters

Actress Alexa Nikolas, who is known for her role as Nicole Bristow in Nickelodeon’s “Zoey 101,” held a protest outside the company’s headquarters in Burbank, California on Thursday.

The 30-year-old actress said she “didn’t feel safe” during her time on the show.

In an Instagram live stream about the protest, Nikolas said that,

“I didn’t feel protected at Nickelodeon as a child. She also requested that “Nickelodeon started protecting children, not predators.”

Nikolas’ organization, Eat Predators, supports survivors of sexual abuse. She expressed deep concern for child stars and is protesting against networks publishing nondisclosure agreements because it prevents children from getting help.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the actress apparently referred to “Zoey 101” and “ICarly” creator Daniel Schneider, where she referred to him as a “childhood trauma maker.”

She said in the video,

“I didn’t feel safe around Dan Schneider when I worked at Nickelodeon.”

Nicole’s outcry comes just weeks after the release of the memoir “I’m Glad My Mom Died” by iCarly star Jeannette McCurdy. The book details McCurdy’s experience with allegations of abuse from executives at Nickelodeon. McCurdy talked about being encouraged to drink when she was underage, receiving unsolicited text messages and claiming the company would offer her a concealed payment if she agreed not to speak out about the allegations. against what she calls the “Creator”.

Protesters stood outside holding placards with the network’s logo reading “Sickelodeon” and “Predators”. There are also signs showing pictures of various Nickelodeon characters including Schneider and former executives, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Nickelodeon has yet to comment on the allegations.
